Prayer. The
Shrine promotes the sanctity of all life by celebrating with and praying
for all mothers. There is no more appropriate way to support mothers,
who profoundly witness to mystery of sacrifice, than the celebration
of the Mass. It is at the Sacrifice of the Mass that mothers find the
most authentic source of healing and strength. As the joy of the Resurrection
is born of the Passion and death of the Lord, all mothers find authentic
joy and solace by joining their daily struggles to those of Christ.
The Shrine hosts Masses celebrated in memory of children who have died
and for mothers and fathers who have suffered the loss of a child.
Special Mass celebrations for mothers are also held on Mothers’ Day,
the feast of Saint Anne, and the various Marian feast days.

Sacred Music Series. The Shrine prayerfully celebrates
the gift of motherhood through a special sacred music series. The Shrine’s
fine acoustics makes it an ideal venue to host sacred music programs,
which draw
people
of all faiths into the marvelous setting of the Shrine’s wonderful
gothic architecture.
Workshops. Many
women find themselves surrounded by a world that does not support them
in their mission of motherhood. The Shrine
of Saint Anne stands
in contrast to this culture by acknowledging the great role of mothers
in our Church, our society and our world. Along with providing mothers
with their spiritual needs through prayer groups and seminars, the
Shrine is a place of contact where mothers in need are connected
to social services that can help provide for their material, emotional,
and psychological needs. Saint Anne’s hosts various workshops
oriented toward developing parenting skills for mothers and fathers
through our Mothers In Need ministry.
Mothers Outreach Mentoring
Service (MOMS).
Mothers Outreach Mentoring Service is an initiative promoted by
the Shrine of Saint Anne For Mothers. MOMS
serves
teenage mothers through volunteer mentors, who collaborate with
existing services in the City of Waterbury. While helping these
young mothers build a sense of self-worth and vocation, the mentors
guide them to review their own health needs, as well as their
children’s needs, in relation to programs available in the
city. Mothers Outreach Mentoring Service works with one young mother
and child at a time to help provide for their mental, physical
and
spiritual
needs.

Speaking
Events. One of the most effective ways of supporting mothers is through
educating our culture about the deep mystery of motherhood. With this
in mind,
the Shrine is host to a series of speaking events where all are invited
to delve into the teachings of our faith which support a culture of
life and love.
